In the middle of the Panjim city, Fontainhas rests quietly over the bank of the Ourem creek. It is a colorful old Latin quarter which has narrow roads and houses reminding the bygone era of Portuguese rule.
The houses in Fontainhas are painted in red, yellow and blue colors and their walls are adorned with typical Portuguese tiles. Even most of the sign boards are made of these blue and white tiles reminding the influence of the Portuguese rule that lasted centuries.
A quiet walk through the Fontainhas and a few serene moments spent in front of Fontainhas’ ancient chapel might even bring you inner peace!
If you are tired walking, there are quite a few bakeries and restaurants in this area to relish some good food in a fairy tale setting.
